You can choose your preferred school from the list of schools offering your selected course/subject (search at DfE find) when applying. After we receive your completed application, we will ask for three alternative schools in priority order. We’ll do our best to place you in your preferred school or, if unavailable, one of your alternative choices.

Teach West London work with over 70 primary and secondary schools across the West London boroughs of Ealing, Harrow, Hillingdon and Hounslow.

Rated exceptional by Ofsted, Teach West London is an accredited Initial Teacher Training (ITT) provider, developing high-quality teachers for schools across West London. 

Through our school-centred training programmes, trainees gain hands-on experience and expert professional development from day one. Our goal is to prepare them to become confident, reflective and skilled teachers, ready to achieve Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and thrive as Early Career Teachers (ECTs). 

Choose who trains at your school 

With Teach West London, you choose who trains at your school. We run a joint recruitment process with our placement schools, enabling successful candidates to build positive relationships with the staff who will play a key role in their development from the very beginning.

A fully integrated approach to training 

Our programme ensures nothing is left to chance. Training is deliberately aligned with the opportunities and experiences trainees encounter in school, enabling them to make meaningful connections between theory and practice and progress rapidly throughout the year. This means trainees are better equipped to contribute positively to school life and pupil learning from the outset.

We offer Primary and Secondary training routes, with QTS, QTS with PGCE, and Postgraduate Teaching Apprenticeship (PGTA) options, in partnership with Primary, Secondary and SEND settings.

Recruitment of initial trainee teachers

Placement schools will be fully involved in the recruitment of initial trainee teachers for their school.

Mentor training requirements

The mandatory training requirements for school mentors with Teach West London is 9 hours. These hours are spread across the year through an induction conference and 6 half-termly webinars that will focus upon our ITT curriculum. 

Teach West London is part of PLITEN (Pan London Initial Teacher Education Network) – a group of London ITE/ITT providers. PLITEN has agreed that the NASBTT mentor skills modules will no longer be mandatory for mentors, but aspects of this training may be recommended to individuals depending on their needs and experience. We will still offer all mentors the opportunity to access this training, and would strongly encourage engagement with the NASBTT mentor skills modules as complimentary CPD. 

Course fees for postgraduate teaching apprenticeships 

• If the employing school pays into the growth and skills levy, this levy will cover the apprenticeship fees meaning both the employer and apprentice have no fees to pay. Should the apprentice opt for our QTS+PGCE, the PGCE costs £1050, payable by the apprentice. 

Training days (out of school)

• Trainees attend a Teach West London professional learning day every Monday.

• They will also be out of school for 16 days across Terms 1 and 2 for Intensive Training and Practice (ITaP).

• PGCE trainees will attend 5 additional taught days at Ada Lovelace facilitated by St Mary’s University during Terms 1 and 2. 

For trainees on a salaried / PGTA training route, the DfE provide grants to ITT providers to contribute to the trainee’s salary costs.   

Teach West London ensures that all grant funding designated to support salary costs, reaches the employing school so that it can be used for its intended purpose.  

Grants are paid on a per trainee basis. For 2026 to 2027 we are offering grants of:  

• £29,000 for Chemistry, Computing, Maths and Physics  

• £20,000 for Languages 

• £5,000 for Biology and Geography 

Salaried grant funding has not yet been announced for 2027-2028. 

Apprentices or salaried trainee are not eligible for bursaries or scholarships.
